Medjugorje

When my sister and I were little, our mother would show us a video about Medjugorje. “Look at these children,” she would say to us. “They’re seeing the Blessed Mother. She’s appearing to them from heaven.”

The first apparition took place on June 24th, 1981, the Feast of Saint John the Baptist. Our Lady appeared to the children on the hillside, holding the Child Jesus, standing in the place now called Apparition Hill.

Medjugorje has always been special to me. I visited many times while in the Seminary, most often for the annual Youth Festival. Most recently, I went there on pilgrimage with my sister and her children in 2018.

To return there again - with 35 of you - is another gift from God for which I am so very grateful, and one that will certainly bring graces to the parish.

The visionaries are older now, and they continue to see Our Lady on occasion. But the reason for our pilgrimage to Medjugorje is to learn how to pray with the heart, and to deepen our love for the Church.

We’re leaving this Tuesday and will return on the 18th. Please remember us in your prayers, and know of ours for all of you while we are there. +
