Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours

Join us as we pray Morning Prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours at 8:40am in the Church, on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the season of Advent. In praying the psalms and canticles, we gather in community to begin our day in praise of the God who made the day for us.

This form of prayer from the Liturgy of the Hours has its roots in our Jewish heritage. Jesus, as a faithful Jew, spent time in prayer at different moments in the day. Early Christian monks continued the tradition and adopted it as their way of making the day holy. Today, priests and deacons and communities of men and women religious are required to pray the Liturgy of the Hours. Lay people are encouraged to pray them as well, particularly Morning and Evening Prayer. It is the responsibility of all Christians to pray for the needs of the church and of the world. In doing so, we ask God to bless the different times of our day.
